National Tejano Convention-Day 2: Tejanos Por Vida Summit2Rebecca Valadez was at the summit, and this is worth mentioning for many reasons, but the reason I do is to share this cool fact about her... as a teenager she performed in Spectrum APF, a song-and-dance troupe that toured with a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles state show in 1992. Too cool! In her part of the presentation she states "Tejano Music is Music made in America like Rock & Jazz." Another couple of interesting bits that came up were about Jay Perez. One, he is a big fan of karaoke! Another is that after performing together on last, members of Malo are now BIG Jay Perez Fans!! You may know MALO and not even know it...have you heard the song ">Suavecito? Oh & by the way, Jorge Santana is related to Carlos---they are brothers. Other comments were ... We need to work together to grow Tejano back. In order to do that we need to support each other. The music is part of our culture and it is never going to die |
